When you live a life of purpose your entire life experience is elevated to a different level. So the question is what is your purpose? Not too long ago I was listening to one of my mentors, Tony Robbins, who said, “If you’re going to live your life, why not live it in a grand way?” He gave examples and challenged me to map out my life in regards to the different compartments that make me who I am. I am going to challenge you to do the same.
So, when you think of your life, as a whole, what is your mission or purpose? Here’s mine- To live a life of fun, laughter, joy, connection, and ultimate adventure. This excites me, keeps me real and reminds me daily to live a life of purpose on purpose. What about your marriage? What is your mission or purpose with your spouse? My mission is “to have an outrageously adventurous, fun, happy, united and committed life with David Henry Bild, til death do us part. I am his betrothed and he is mine.”
The next step is to identify two to three action steps that will ensure that your purpose and mission becomes real and alive in your life. So for my marriage mission, my actions are to communicate, no matter what, weekly date nights, to laugh, dance, play and remember that we are in it together, and lastly to have romance, variety, and spontaneity in our marriage. This is for my marriage, what about yours? What are your heart’s desires, what is it that made you fall in love with your husband, and what does your relationship need to flourish, not just exist?
I challenge you to take some time and begin to create a mission or purpose statement and action steps to fuel results in each of the following areas of your life: Your big picture life purpose, health, marriage, children, personal growth mission, spiritual and mental, friends & family, and career. Once done, you will have such an incredible sense of mental clarity, focus, and purpose that others will literally see a dramatic change in you.
